This verse is called Ayat al-Kursi due to the word ?Kursi? being mentioned in it. Of all the chapters in the Quran, the most excellent chapter is Surat al-Ikhlas, and the most excellent verse is Ayat al-Kursi. One virtue of Ayat al-Kursi is that more reward is obtained for reading it than any other verse.

Benefit of ayatul kursi: 1. Children are born with a natural curiosity. Ayatul kursi will answer their basic questions about Allah i.e. Who is Allah, what are the attributes of Allah. 2. Whoever recites Ayatul kursi at bedtime, Allah will appoint an angel to protect them until the morning.
This verse of Surah Al-Baqarah is known as Ayat-ul-Kursi meaning the verse of the Throne. The main themes here are the Oneness of Allah and that supreme power and authority belong to Him. He is the exclusive master of the heavens and the earth. He has no partner in His Attributes. He is Ever-Living, Supporter of the entire universe and All-Knowing.
He said, "(Forgive me and) I will teach you some words with which Allah will benefit you." I asked, "What are they?" He replied, "Whenever you go to bed, recite "Ayat-al-Kursi"-- 'Allahu la ilaha illa huwa-l-Haiy-ul Qaiyum' till you finish the whole verse. (If you do so), Allah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you and no satan
Ayatul kursi is a natural remedy for a variety of ailments and diseases. It serves as a protector for those who are afraid. This is most powerful verse which explains why we should put our faith in Allah. Surah Al-Baqarah contains the Ayatul Kursi (verse255). It is the Quran’s most important Ayah.
